It is deadly to insects and insect larvae and is commonly used to combat ticks, lice, fleas, and bedbugs. One grade is for pool filters only. You must use the correct grade, as food grade would not work as it is too fine.

Get rid of bedbugs

Bedbugs can be hard to get rid of because of their size. Diatomaceous earth works great and is widely used for combating bedbugs. One user reported that it killed the adult bedbugs outright, but the tiny larva required him to apply a little more. He had bites that itched for 3 weeks, but when he applied the powder to the bites the itching went away. The powder on the skin actually kept them away and on the bites to relieve the itching.

Is it right that the best DE is the palest in colour?

Many people will agree that the purer deposits of DE will be white or tinged slightly yellow. They are usually soft, porous, and claylike when first dug up.
